Costs

One of the main erroneous perceptions about energy-efficient houses is that the costs related to their design and construction could rise up to even twice as much as a conventional house. The truth, however, is far from that.

The energy-efficient house construction costs exceed those of a conventional house with about 10-15%, the difference being justified by the usage of high-quality construction and insulation materials. Later, due to the low energy consumption of the house, heating costs are considerably diminished as soon as the building is put to use, therefore the additional investment is recovered during the first five to ten years.
